A spectacle of illumination and shape designed for night viewing, the MTC Theatre is a work of art for the performing arts. Just a stone’s throw away from the Arts Centre, the NGV and Federation Square, with its distinctive white piping, the MTC Theatre cannot be missed.
The MTC Theatre is home to the Sumner Theatre, a state-of-the-art 500-seat venue offering the most advanced stage technology and a level of intimacy not previously seen in Australia. It has been designed to provide comfort and excellent stage views for all the audience, with a flexible stage it allows the presentation of the entire gamut of theatre – from large scale effects down to tightly focussed dramatic performances.
Alongside the Sumner Theatre is the Lawler Studio, a flexible space with seating for 150 people. Perfect for performances of an intimate nature, the Lawler Studio is suitable for experimental, cutting-edge and developmental works.
