About
Based in Australia's 'Culture Capital' - Adelaide, South Australia - Leigh Warren & Dancers is a compact group of individual dance artists whose experience and special talents combine to present new Australian dance of an international calibre. Formed in 1993 by Artistic Director and Choreographer Leigh Warren, the company has a reputation within the Australian and international contemporary dance scenes for innovative collaborations. Wherever possible, the company partners with composers, musical groups and visual artists of various cultures to create works which challenge the dancers and the art forms themselves - appealing to wide-ranging audiences of all ages.
The company has produced and toured many original dance works, worked with seminal Australian visual artists & musicians and collaborated with distinguished choreographers such as William Forsythe (Quick Brown Fox) and Japanese contemporary Butoh artist, Uno Man (Wanderlust). From 2002-07 Leigh directed Philip Glass's entire trilogy of 'portrait operas' – a world first. The company has won many accolades including Australian Dance Awards and several Green Room Awards.
