Boroondra City Council

The City of Boroondara is a metropolitan council, representing more than 165,000 people in the inner-eastern suburbs of Melbourne. The suburbs include Hawthorn, Kew, Camberwell, Ashburton, Balwyn and Canterbury.

Council is about to embark on the development of two cultural facilities - Hawthorn Town Hall Cultural Precinct which will include a major refurbishment of the beautiful heritage listed town hall. On the completion of Stage 1 in mid 2013, the city will have an international standard art gallery as well as artist's studios, community meeting rooms, function facilities and arts incubator. Stage 2 will consist of a purpose built theatre.

The second project is the Kew Court House which will open mid 2011. This historical building has been refurbished to include a small performance space seating 80 people, gallery and retail area, meeting rooms and office space for community groups.
