About
The Araluen Arts Centre, a modern, sophisticated complex, is the focal point for performing and visual arts for Alice Springs and Central Australia and houses a 500 seat theatre, a cabaret and functions room and four art galleries.
The magnificent stained glass windows in the Araluen foyer are a feature of the Centre. The major window created by glass artist Cedar Prest was designed by local Aboriginal artist Wenten Rubuntja and contains three separate yet interrelated traditional stories (Mparntwe Dreamings) belonging to the Arrernte Aboriginal people.
Araluen's 500-seat theatre is designed and equipped on a par with the best in Australia, enabling professional drama, dance and musical events of the highest calibre to be staged in Alice Springs. The Theatre also doubles as an art house movie theatre and is used by a wide range of community groups and amateur performances.
