...books and articles; assignments in 20 countries on four continents; clients include some 30 Fortune Global500 corporations; visiting Adjunct Professor Curtin University; co-founder Marketing1Up.com; served on DeQuincey Co board; conducted strategy/board workshops with Australia Council, Canberra Arts Marketing, Regional Arts Australia, individual arts organizations; past editor ripe on-line arts marketing program; strategic reports/manuals on behalf of Australia Council, Federal Department for Communications and the Arts, Australian Foundation for Culture and the Humanities. Yours, Mine, Ours? - Suzanne Daley

Suzanne Daley has been working as an industry specialist for Live Performance Australia since 2002 and is currently Director, Policy & Programs. A graduate in Arts/Law, Suzanne has a particular interest in legal issues which impact on the industry. Suzanne is also a graduate member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, and is a Director of Big Brothers Big Sisters Australia and Auspicious Arts.

Other People's Money - James Boyd

With Artsupport since 2009, James has facilitated over $3million in donations to the cultural sector. Previously, as Development Manager for WASO he managed one of Australia's largest arts sponsorship and philanthropy programs. Raising $15 million over 5 years, it won twelve awards including the 2008 Abaf National Corporate Partnership of the Year and 2008 Abaf National Giving Award.

Bernie's Touring World - Bernadette Haldane

Bernadette is a graduate of BAPA production course. She has worked as Production/Stage Manager for festivals and events and for many Melbourne based companies. She has also provided lighting designs for independent producers and provided technical support for touring companies and regional venues across the state. Bernadette moved to Albury/Wodonga in 2002 to take on the position of Production Manager of HotHouse Theatre and, in 2005, was appointed General Manager. She is currently a board member for Regional Arts NSW. Bernadette also holds the position of Chair of the Victorian Association of Performing Arts Centres Association and is a representative of the Touring Consultative Committee for Regional Arts Victoria. Bernadette has served three years as Chairperson on the RAF NSW State Assessment Panel.

The Truth, the Light... - Greg Randall

As a freelance Arts Manager, Greg Randall fills the role of Executive Officer for the Performing Arts Touring Alliance. Previously he was Director of Programming at the Arts Centre, Melbourne, the Director of Sydney's highly regarded Glen Street Theatre, Regional Arts Manager for the South Australian Country Arts Trust and founding Director of Arts on Tour New South Wales in Sydney. He has served on numerous arts and community management boards (including APACA).

Seeing is Hearing - Nari Jennings, Alex French, Kay Jamieson & Brian Coghlan

Nari Jennings

A QUT graduate a co-founder of The Captioning Studio, Nari Jennings has worked in the captioning industry for 15 years. With a strong family history of deafness, Nari combines her two passions - a love of the arts and a passion for quality access for the deaf and hearing impaired - through her company's provision of theatre captioning services to many Australian venues.

 

Alex French

A UK graduate in Electronics Engineering and co-founder of The Captioning Studio, Alex French started his career building studios for BBC Television before moving to a company supplying specialist software to the TV industry. Alex's innovative thinking in his field has ensured that his captioning software has led the world for almost 20 years.

 

Kay Jamieson

Kay Jamieson is the Executive Producer of Brink Productions, an award-winning theatre company based in Adelaide. She has more than 25 years arts experience in theatre, opera, chamber music, festivals (Perth and Melbourne Festivals 1988-2001), major events and touring nationally and internationally.

 

Brian Coghlan

Brian has been involved with the implementation of the live captioning setup at the Frankston Arts Centre. FAC offers live captioning to all programmed events in the main theatre, along with a fixed RF hearing loop in the theatre and a mobile hearing loop capable of being setup in our other smaller venues.

Getting to the Heart of It - Emma Scott & Deb Cox

Emma Scott

Emma Scott is the director of Sydney-based branding and design company, The Elk Group. The Elk Group is dedicated to helping companies find their story, their unique personality and then building a look that comes from the heart of the business. Emma also has a Bachelor of Education from Sydney University, and has had her first children's book published in October 2010.

 

Deborah Cox

Deborah Cox is the General Manager of Loulaki Blue a Sydney-based corporate communications company. Loulaki Blue believe every business has a story to tell and work with their clients to create stories that capture the imagination of their target audience and take them on a journey. Working across all media, the ultimate objective is to create very effective communication. Deborah has a Bachelor of Economics and has undertaken post graduate studies in Strategic Planning.

Creating an Indigenous Touring Circuit - Kyle Morrison, Rachael Mazalong, Fenn Gordon

Kyle Morrison

Kyle has been in the theatre industry since the age of eleven, working primarily as an actor for companies such as Deckchair, Barking Gecko, Yirra Yaakin and Sydney Theatre Company. In 2006 Kyle began developing his directorial skills for Yirra Yaakin Theatre Company. He gained an Australia Council Skills and Arts Development grant to work as an assistant director to Angela Chaplin (for Deckchair Theatre), Wayne Blair (Sydney Theatre Company), Tom Gutteridge (Black Swan Theatre Company) and Wesley Enoch (Company B). He was appointed Artistic Director of Yirra Yaakin in March 2009.

 

Rachael Maza Long

Rachael is the Artistic Director of Ilbijerri Theatre Company. She was well known as a television presenter for SBS's ICAM and ABC's Message Stick, and for her stunning performances in Radiance and The Sapphires. In 2010 brought the story of Uncle Jack Charles to the stage in 'Jack Charles v The Crown' which has been presented at the Melbourne Festival, Belvoir St theatre and by the Brisbane Festival in September.

 

Fenn Gordon

Fenn Gordon was appointed CEO of Performing Lines in June 2011. She moved from New Zealand to Australia in 2007 to join Performing Lines as the producer responsible for international projects. She worked with many of Australia's leading artists including William Yang, Gavin Webber and Grayson Millwood, and the late Tanja Liedtke. From 2009 2011 she was the Director, Market Development of the Australia Council, responsible for implementing strategies to develop markets for Australian artists and organisations nationally and internationally. Before crossing the Tasman, Fenn worked as an independent producer in New Zealand for eighteen years, where she managed the national and international careers of independent artists Douglas Wright, Flight of the Conchords and Miranda Harcourt amongst many others. She has written and taught extensively about touring and producing in the performing arts.

Are You Too Exposed? Force Majeure, Cancellations and the Law - Andrew Chalet from TressCox Lawyers

Andrew Chalet is a Commercial and Intellectual Property Partner at TressCox Lawyers. With 20 years' experience, Andrew is an expert in drafting venue hire and artist engagement agreements. Andrew has advised the Victorian Arts Centre Trust, Melbourne Recital Centre, the Palais Theatre and Garry Van Egmond. He is also on board of Phillip Adams' BalletLab.

 

APACA Keynote 2 - Helene Thomas, Pakachi & Adams Bisangwa

Helene Thomas

Helene Thomas has been exploring Rwanda through the eyes of its people since her first journey there in January 2009. She is a freelance radio documentary producer for ABC Radio National and is also immersed in a PhD at Murdoch University in WA. The focus of her research is the power of storytelling.

 

Pakachi

Pakachi is a grassroots hip hop artist in Rwanda. He's one of the few artists in East Africa who writes lyrics about the problems he and the people around him face. His first song was about the power of the microphone. Pakachi is also training to become a motor mechanic which may help fund his music career.

 

Adams Bisangwa

Adams Bisangwa has worked as an actor and more recently as an interpreter but it's his ability to unite people, despite their background, that he is most renowned for. Being a survivor of the 1994 genocide, he is determined to work towards a peaceful Rwanda. With each project that he undertakes he applies a work ethic of equality for all.
